Summary

This article provides a summary on how to add compliance (Retention setting, Journaling, Litigation & In-Place Hold) for Exchange accounts in MachPanel.

This article applies to MachPanel all versions.

Compliance Management

Under Compliance Management tab, you can manage following:

  1. Retention Settings,
  2. Litigation hold,
  3. In-Place Hold and
  4. Journaling.

The relative tabs will appear under Compliance Management if they are checked under subscription resources.

Allow Customers to Enable/Disable Retention Settings, Litigation hold, In-Place Hold and Journaling:

  • To create a hosted email plan navigate to following path: Home » Service Plans » Exchange
  • Under Resources tab and check the option Customer can manage Retention policy:

Note: You can also edit existing hosted email plans by clicking on the Edit link and Sync sold plan resources.

If this Sync sold plan resources checkbox is checked, product name, comments, plan resources will be updated in sold subscription resources. Changing plan resources does not auto update entities like Mailbox settings.

  • To allow/disallow on Customers/Resellers, check/uncheck this option under "Resources" tab. Its permission is also implemented in Access Templates.

Navigate to path: Home > Customer Manager > Subscriptions > Subscription detail

Now you can manage under Compliance Management: Home > Service Director > Exchange Hosting > Exchange Accounts > Manage Service

Retention Tags and Retention Policies

Creating and applying retention involves three steps.

  • Step 1: Create a retention tag

  • Step 2: Create a retention policy.
  • Step 3: Apply retention policy to a mailbox user

To see if it worked, run the following Exchange Management Shell command manually against a single mailbox:  Start-ManagedFolderAssistant -Identity <mailbox identity>

Or, you can log on to the mailbox using Outlook or OWA and verify that messages are deleted or moved to an archive in accordance with the policy configuration.

Litigation Hold

Select Litigation Hold tab.

Click Enable.

Note: Litigation hold is available for Enterprise and Enterprise Plus mailbox.

In-Place Hold

Select In-Place hold tab.

Enable: Check this option to enable In-place hold for a mailbox. In-place hold is available for Enterprise and Enterprise Plus mailbox.

  • Mailboxes: Select mailboxes from Selectable

Journal Rules

Select Journal Rules tab. Journaling is available for Enterprise and Enterprise Plus mailbox.

Click on Enable/Update Journaling button. You can also Import /Export Journaling in bulk using CSV file.
