MachPanel Database automatic failover using MSSQL mirroring

This article tells you how to set database mirroring in connection string for MachPanel Control Panel.

Solution

MSSQL mirroring with automatic failover is a feature of SQL but of MachPanel. So after configuring mirroring you will have to inform MachPanel about failover server. You will do this by inserting a value in connection string.

You can open connection string by typing ‘regedit’ in RUN and then going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES >> SOFTWARES >> MachSol >> MachPanel >> Connection String:

The default connection string is: Data Source=.\machpanelsql2005;Initial Catalog=MachPanel_Db;User ID=MachPanel_Db;Password=D4006127e$;

You will have to modify above string to add Failover Server name after the principal server:

Data Source=.\machpanelsql2005;Failover Partner=;Initial Catalog=MachPanel_Db;User ID=MachPanel_Db;Password=D4006127e$;

For example you have second SQL server SQL2 then connection string would be:

Data Source=.\machpanelsql2005;Failover Partner=sql2;Initial Catalog=MachPanel_Db;User ID=MachPanel_Db;Password=D4006127e$;

Using Export to Excel Feature

Error received while trying to use Export to Excel feature: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.

Symptoms

Upon clicking Export to Excel below error message is received:

The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.

More Information

This error is caused when Data Connectivity Components are not installed on the MachPanel control server. Below is an error snapshot:

Resolution

Install Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable and then try again, you will not face above error now.

MachPanel Remote Server Installation

Below are the details where MachPanel Remote Servers should be installed for integrating these services with MachPanel Control Server:

Microsoft Exchange:

For Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010, MachPanel Remote Servers should be installed on Exchange Mailbox Server

For Exchange 2010 Hosted, MachPanel Remote Servers should be installed on the CAS Servers

Microsoft SharePoint:

In case of server farm, MachPanel Remote Server will be installed on Web Front end Box

In case of single server deployment, MachPanel Remote Server will be installed on that same server

Microsoft CRM:

For CRM, MachPanel Remote Server should be installed on Application Server (Platform Server Role)

RIM BlackBerry:

MachPanel Remote server should be installed where BES UserAdminClientToolkit has been installed

Hostmatic Server:

MachPanel Remote server should be installed on all the servers where hostmatic services are

Procedure:

Follow the step by step procedure to install MachPanel Remote Server:

1) First step is to install the pre-requisite i.e. .NET Framework 3.5.1 Features. For this, open Server Manager, click on 'Features' and click on 'Add Features':

Finish the setup. Now your server is ready to install MachPanel Control Server.

2) Now open http://www.machsol.com/ and click on Login link on top. Login using the credentials you registered with this site:

2) Go to 'Downloads' from the 'Your Products' section

3) Select the appropriate MachPanel Remote Server 32 bit or 64 bit setup, download it and run it.

4) Follow the screenshots below to complete the rest of the setup:

Click Next to continue

Accept License agreement and click Next to continue

Select the Destination Folder and click on Next

Review the setup summary and click Next

Bind Remote Server to the local IP of machine

The installation of MachPanel Remote Server is complete

Storefront Integration With Provider’s Website using Variables

MachPanel has the option to enable a panel login link for the client to take your clients from their billing account directly to their panel account. The system works through sending HTML parameters (aka. variables) to the purchase routine to initiate a sale, whether they are sent by HTML submission form or a direct purchase link. Integration involves accessing these variables directly. Certain steps can be skipped based upon your requirements. This can be accomplished by creating direct links to the cart by copying them and following Storefront variables will be required for successful integration

This variable relates to order form id

PGID

This variable relates to Payment group id

PType

This variable corresponds to the package type Possible values are:

Cycle

Create Custom Theme for MachPanel Control Server

Summary:

This article explains the steps to create custom theme for MachPanel, where you would like to give your own look and feel to the panel.

Applies To:

MachPanel Control Server.

Steps to Follow:

To modify the control panel theme, you need to modify the CSS and other files you want in the theme folder. Before making any sort of changes, first you need to create a copy of theme folder, rename it and modify content inside the theme folder.

Please follow the steps below to achieve your goal:

1. Create new theme folder:

a. Make a copy of the default theme folder “Default” folder from following location:
C:\Program Files\MachSol, Inc\MachPanel\App_Themes\

Name it something like “NewTheme”, Making the new path:
C:\Program Files\MachSol, Inc\MachPanel\App_Themes\NewTheme\

b. Modify content of “NewTheme” folder as per your requirements.

2. Apply new theme on MachPanel:

a. Make changes in Web.Config file of MachPanel which is located at:
C:\Program Files\MachSol, Inc\MachPanel\

b. Open the Web.Config file in any editor and locate following text:

Pre Requisites

You have purchased license from the sales team

Procedure

* It is strongly recommended that to import a test organization first as a Proof of Concept.

Please follow below mentioned steps to bulk import SharePoint users:

1) Open MachPanel Control Panel, log in as Provider and navigate to Home >> Migration Director >> SharePoint Migration:

Select the Owner (i.e. Provider or any Reseller)
Select the SharePoint Server where the users exists

2) In this step enter the customer's domain name, select the customer, associate a service plan and then click Next.

3) Enter billing information and finally click Next to Import the organization in MachPanel:

Procedure

Navigate to Service Director è Exchange Hosting è SPLA reports.

SPLA reports are shown in MachPanel by following standards:

BASIC

Mailboxes having OWA, POP, IMAP access but having no MAPI access

STANDARD

Mailboxes having basic features, plus MAPI access

STANDARD PLUS

Mailboxes having standard features plus outlook/MAC client CAL (There is absolutely no way to be entirely sure who uses which client/license with which account. Any mailbox with checkbox “Outlook Licenses” checked would be counted as Standard Plus. All other mailboxes (with other standard-features) would be counted as Standard. Follow the below process to convert a mailbox into Standard Plus.

Go to Service management of Exchange organization under mailbox tab. Click on Group actions as shown below.

Select mailboxes which you want to convert in to Standard Plus and click on enable outlook license as shown below.

Click on Save and these mailboxes will be shown under Standard Plus in SPLA reports.

Prerequisite for MachPanel Exchange 2010 hosting mode Module

How to Import Public Folders in MachPanel

Procedure

Go to service management tab of the organization under which you want to import public folders. Click on Enable migration tab as shown in below snapshot.

After clicking on Enable migration tab go to the Public Folders tab. Here you will see the import tab. Click on This import button as shown below:

After clicking on Import button MachPanel will fetch the details of all the public folders which exists on backend. Click on the specified folder to import it into MachPanel as shown below.

Click on save to complete the public folder import process. You will see the below message on completion.

That will complete the public folder import process.

How to Add a New Mailbox

Procedure

Go to Home > Service Director > Exchange Hosting > Exchange Accounts

Clicking on Exchange accounts will open the new page. Click on service management against the organization in which you want to create new mailbox, as shown in the figure below.

On the next page click on the mailbox tab and then click on add new mailbox tab as shown below.

After providing all the details on next page for the new mailbox, click on save and it will add the new mailbox for that organization.

Also make sure that MachPanel Control Server and MachPanel Remote Server are on the same build and that MachPanel Provisioning Service isrunning on both servers

Procedure:

1) OpenMachPanel Control Panel Website (You can do it by opening MachPanelControl Server Configuration Studio and then navigating to Configure > Control Panel Website, and then clicking on the URL in it). Log in with the provider credentials.

2) Navigate to Home > Service Director > Wireless Services > Server group and then click on Add Server Group.

3) Adding the BlackBerry Server is a two step process. In first step you create a Server Group. In this step provide Server Group Name, select provider: BlackBerry 5.0 and Exchange Server Group for which you want to provide wireless services:

• Server Group Name: This is the friendly name of the server group
• Provider: Select “BlackBerry 5.0” from the drop down list
• Exchange Server Group: Select the desired Exchange Server Group against which you want to enable BlackBerry Services
• Fill Style: Select from one of the two options

· One-by-One: Setup hosting on group members in circular manner

• Automatic Provisioning: If checked the system will automatically provision accounts on group members. If cleared, system will not provision account
• Enabled: If unchecked, system will not provision any accounts on the server group members

4) In the second step you add the server to the server group. Fill in the required details. Also provide the correct path to the BES Admin Client, if you had chosen the default location then it is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server Resource Kit\BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Administration Tool Client\BESUserAdminClient.exe

• IT Policies: Enter the IT policy which should be applied on the newly provisioned device. Enter “Default” if you haven’t created custom IT policies
• Default Handheld PIN: This is the default PIN set for newly provisioned devices. It makes easy for the service provider to publish in the FAQs
• Prepended/Appended Disclaimer: Enter any disclaimers you wish to add
• Auto-generated Password Length: Enter the maximum length for auto-generated password
• Auto-generated Password Type: Select AlphaNumeric from the list
• Password Expiry Time: Default setting is 48 hours
• Maximum Accounts: Enter maximum number of BlackBerry activations that you would like to create on this particular BlackBerry server
• Current Accounts Load: Currently enabled number of mailboxes

After filling the appropriate details, click 'Save'

5) Now check the integration status be navigating to the path in the below snapshot and hit 'Test Service':

If you get the below Test Report then you have successfully integrated BlackBerry with MachPanel

Resolved Issues

MachPanel (General):
- After the update to build 4226, the service credentials on remote servers were not updated properly.
- If a customer has customized (branded) MachPanel with his company name and logo, on the login page if wrong credentials are given the name of the panel goes back to MachPanel.
HostMatic:
- Wrong permissions being set when adding new FTP user from MachPanel.
- Problem with MySQL database name more than 6 characters. Error changed to: "Database name should not be more than 6 character"
- DNS management issue in case of two DNS servers where the management of DNS gives error i.e. “DNS zone and records sync failed.”
- Problem with SmarterMail 6.x provisioning.
CRM:
- Problem “The deployment Service cannot process the request because one or more validation checks failed.” fixed in CRM2011 provisioning.
- Unable to enter CRM IFD site URL which has two dots like in machsol.co.uk
- On add server screen, under CRM server group "Http//" shown twice in "URL base "drop down.
Store Configuration:
- Error on “Clear Cart” button in store.
SharePoint:
- Sites deleted from MachPanel successfully but the IIS bindings for these sites were not deleted.
- Problem with SharePoint service plan cloning.
Notifications:
- Notification could not be saved though all data and dates were correct.
Exchange 2007/2010:
- Problem when downloading Outlook Profiles from MachPanel.
- On Exchange reseller end, clicking on “Exchange Account” option moved cursor to “Name Server”.
Store Front:
- Store shows exchange 2007 even though it is exchange 2010

Procedure

It is very easy to customize look & feel of your order forms by customizing the store template. Follow the below steps to customize the order form

1) Navigate to Home > System configuration > Store Configuration

2) Click on Edit against the order to edit the current order form you can also create new order form by clicking New order form button.

3) On the new page complete the order form as per your requirement. You can also provide the Header and Footer which will be displayed on order form page.

4) After providing all the details click on save and it will save the order form. Click on launch order form to verify the order form.

Integrating Hostmatic Control Server with MachPanel

1) OpenMachPanel Control Panel Website (You can do it by opening MachPanelControl Server Configuration Studio and then navigating to Configure > Control Panel Website, and then clicking on the URL in it). Log in with the provider credentials.

2) Navigate to Home > Service Director > Web Hosting > Server group and then click on Add Server Group.

3) Enter Server Group name, select Hostmatic Control Server from the Provider drop down list. Then move to next step.

4) Enter the Hostmatic Server Reference ID, IP, local administrator credentials and click Finish.

5) At this point you have successfully added the Hostmatic Control Server in MachPanel. Now you need to add services in the recently added server. So click on the recently added Hostmatic Control Server group.

6) You will see the list of Hostmatic Server being added in this Server Group. To add Hostmatic Services in the Hostmatic Server click Services in the options menu against the desired server.

7) From the Service drop down menu, select the Service you want to add.

After selecting the service, you will be taken to their respective pages. Fill the required information for the services and save. Add multiple services as per your requirements.

8) Below is a snapshot of Web, Mail, DNS and FTP services added in the above Hostmatic Server.

9) Hit Test Service for each service and if you get below snapshot then integration of that service is successful
