ERRMSG:An Active Directory Error 0x51 Occurred When Trying To...

Summary

An Active Directory error 0x51 occurred when trying to check server 'VPS06-67.testremoting.com:389' suitability.'The LDAP server is unavailable.'

Applies To

MachPanel all versions

Cause
This error is encountered if LDAP is not correct or the “Preferred Domain controller” information is incorrect.

Solution

Step1: Check LDAP Entry

Verify and check LDAP entry. It is case sensitive.

For LDAP entry verification, perform the following:

  1. Login to provider control panel, navigate to:

Home >> Service Director >> Exchange Hosting >> Server Groups

  2. Under the Server Groups tab, click edit for your corresponding Server Group Name. A new screen will display following records along with other information as well:

  • Server Group Name:

  • Provider:

  • Active Directory Domain:

  • Default Reseller LDAP URL:

Default Reseller LDAP URL is the point of focus here. This is the location of active directory Organizational Unit (OU) under which MachPanel will create exchange organization. You may change this location any time as this will not affect existing accounts. Check your Default Reseller LDAP URL record here. A typical LDAP entry should look like the following:

Example:
LDAP://OU=
MachPanel System,OU=Hosting,DC=testremoting,DC=com
Note: Remember, LDAP entry is case sensitive so must be filled in precisely.

Step2: Preferred domain controller:
This should be complete server name e.g AD01.Fabrikam.com.
Note: In case there are multiple domain controllers / additional domain controllers involved, the preferred domain controller should be able to propagate the Organizational Unit (OU) creation properly to the active directory structure.

You can check for appropriate DC / ADC though following steps:
  1. Click Start Menu >> Run
  2. Type in dsa.msc and press Enter key
  3. Active Directory Users and Computers window will pop up
  4. Select and right click the Domain(e.g. fabrikam.com)
  5. Click Operations Masters
